When you make it to the pink webbing in the first stage, position yourself roughly a quarter of the way down the screen. Make sure you have an option or two so you can blast through the blue blobs that periodically block your path since they take quite a few hits to destroy. The 1up is roughly half way through the pink webbing, and you should be able to locate it using the handy little screenshot.(gee, that was nice of me, wasn't it? :D)

Another 1up can be found in the first stage. Fly your ship as low as possible once you reach the wall right before the first boss. Simply blast through until you reach the 1up. However, make sure you don't shoot through it too quickly, or the wall will end up collapsing on your ship, thus killing you. A 1up isn't any good if you are already dead now, is it?
