Story: Uncle Scrooge is a world class millionaire and a lover of adventure. His goal this time is to obtain the five lost treasures that were scattered throughout the world. He is off on his adventure with the help of Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. They will travel with him through the jungles of the Amazon, the snow topped peaks of the Himalayas, the haunted house in Transylvania, the subterranean mines of Africa, and to the surface of the Moon. How many of the lost treasures will you be able to find?

Story ripped off the manuals section of TSR's NES archive, [hmm, I should send him a thank-you email.]

My take on the story; you play the Disney cash cow Scrooge McDuck in a game hardly based on the actual cartoon with the same title as the game in another way to cash in on a the series and capitalize on more animals as Disney is well known for.

Well really this isn't that bad of a game, really short with only five levels [has a difficulty level though] but it was aimed at the younger audience, which is good, I never owned this game until early this year, I remembered borrowing it from a friend several times and decided to get it for pure memories, then I started having flashbacks when I first popped it in over seven years after playing it.

Pretty odd too, the first time I saw Duck Tales was the day it came to TV, I was at home sick with some odd stomach virus and in between emptying the contents of my stomach in the bathroom, managed to see most of the first part of the series, being sick for a few days and all, I am glad that they later moved it to after school hours, ah the memories, I am blabbing even in a review.

Well anyway, after really getting into the series so much, [it was a cartoon, I was seven, we all did], I had to at least play the game, play control and game layout wasn't what I expected, but in retrospect it was the best layout for a cartoon character based game.

Play Control: B+

A little hard to get used to at first, even a second time, [lol], but once you figure it out all the better, but be warned, you'll notice in some hard areas that, like in Mario Brothers, you'll have to master the jumping before you can advance.

Graphics: B+

They are pretty simple looking, but detailed if you look closer, scrooge even has glasses if you have a good quality TV screen and vision.

Sound: B+

Has some good sound effects,[usually a lot of bleeps and bloops], and some sound somewhat digitized, but a lot of good noises overall anyway, fits the game as the rest of the program does.

Music: A-

music sounds somewhat digitized at places too, [a rushed game maybe?]. Some music is based on the show, some isn't, but as you know its Capcom music, the best of any game licensed company, most of the music is pretty clear sounding, but the D.T. main theme music, although cool, is heavily scratchy.

Theme and Fun: B+

Based on a cool TV series, even has some, although limited at times, interaction with other characters off the series.

Frustration: B+ Bleah, some jumps are near impossible, and it has the Gaiden set up at times to, I recall one area in the Himalayas that you get knocked off whenever you try to jump onto another platform, and sad to say lives are really limited in this game.

Repetition: B

As with most platformers, gets boring after a while, but you'll beat it before it does, which is a good thing.

Replay Value:B-

Even though I have beat it several times, and does get boring, if you put it up long enough, it will keep you having fun for years.

Final Pluses: Based on a cool hit TV animated series, excellent control, music, sound, everything a gamer needs.

Final Minuses: Hmm, not much really, a little too short, some people complain of the difficulty but I don't think I ever beat it or tried on hard, that with a lot of "Gaiden areas" will be a real good balance, good enough to make it a balanced game anyway.

Changes: More stages, a few more harder areas, what's with Scrooge wearing red? I thought what he wore was blue? obviously it was at least hurried along slightly.

Overall B+

Pretty well designed game for its targeted age, which was then oddly enough, me, even with its limitations, its a better game then a lot out there.

Final Note: Get this game, you should enjoy it at least once in your life.

Value; worth is about $3.75 loose, complete would be around $7, more or less on eBay.
