Contra is one of the most well-known and favorite nes games out there today. Almost everyone I know has played it with their best friend on a cold Sunday morning with a big bowl of popcorn. The reason this game is such a remembered classic is because it is, in fact, a great game. The control is incredible. The graphics are very sophisticated for it's time. And the plot is... Well, plot isn't important anyway... But there are reasons which make this game one of my, and a lot of other peoples, favorite games.
| As I mentioned before, the storyline wasn't great, but it didn't have to be. I don't know anyone who hated Contra for the "crappy storyline". I only knew one guy who didn't like it and that was because it was too hard. Which brings me to my second point. This game is so good because I have had it for 8 or 9 years and never beaten it (without cheating). It is like Marble madness. I just beat that game for the first time about 2 weeks ago. It is the difficulty of a game that makes it live on forever and ever. |

| The story goes as follows (deathspork: forgive me if I am wrong): There is some alien organization that is trying to take over the world. You and your friend (played by scorpion and mad dog) have to foil their plans by destroying them. When you win you get the right to "consider yourself a hero". But the real reason this game is great is because you can play it for hours on end. I have played through this game countless amounts of times, and still play it at least once a week. |
All in all, a game worth many bucks. If you see this one, pick it up or you will regret it for the rest of your days.
